Our Musical Theatre Cast On-Stage
Performance Day!
JULIA - Today is the last day of the last week. I'm so sad. Well at least I'm coming next year. I had so much fun and I can't wait for the show!
ANNA (Counselor) - Hi this is Anna. Nathan and I are writing together. We are currently watching Beauty and the Beast, one of my favorite Disney movies. This week has been great and has gone by so quickly. Everyone's dances and songs are coming together so well. I am so proud of all of the campers.
NATHAN - ... all of that in one day! All of the dances are going very well and the songs, too. All the counselors are really nice: Karah, Anna, Victoria, Kingsley, and Melissa.

Dance Workshop with Special Guest Choreographer, Nicole Gerenyi
Today, we continued to practice and learn our music and choreography for Friday's showcase. We also participated in a dance workshop with Nicole Gerenyi. She taught us thirteen different dance steps, and then we got to use those steps to choreograph our own original dances!
Journal Entries Submitted by Campers:
NATHAN - This is the best performing arts camp in the whole wide world. Great lunch. Great classes.
ELIZA - Today Ms. Nicole came. She is a dancer. Ms. Nicole taught us a couple of moves used in musical theatre. Then we used those moves to make up a dance in groups. It was a lot of fun. I loved learning today.
TREY - I liked today because we got to makeup our own dance moves to "You Can't Stop the Beat," from Hair Spray.
SANGEETHA - Today I learned thirteen new moves and I did a new dance that me and one counselor and my friends did.

I had a fun day. My counselors are very nice. I learned lots of stuff, like a new song with a dance included.
JULIA:
Today is Week Four, Day One dance to musical theatre! For the show on Friday I'm doing the song, "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better" and then everybody's doing "Superfragilisticexpialidocious." I'm so excited!
ANDREW:
Today my favorite time of day was dancing in the dance room. It was fun because learning new steps gets me happy. But it was sooo hot, and that I did not like so much.
SKYLAR:
Hello, and I am Skylar. And today I had fun at Springside. What we did today is so far we danced and sang and we watched a movie. I had a great day today!
ELOISE:
Hello. I am someone. Someone in the Springside Drama Camp. But you don't have to know who I am. I'll just tell you about the stuff at the camp. Two groups are split up and they are doing different songs and dances. The younger group is doing a song from "Aristocats," which is a musical. Of course, it is about cats. The younger group is also doing a dance to that song. The old group is doing a song from "Annie Get Your Gun." They're doing a dance to that, as well. I can already tell this is going to be an interesting week!!
ELIZA:
Today I had so much fun! First we learned the song we are doing in groups. Our song is, "Anything You Can Do." We learned the whole song already! Then we went to the dance room to learn the dance to "Anything You Can Do." Although we didn't finish we had a lot of fun. I am so excited to learn "Superfragilisticexpialidocious!"

Not only was it Wacky Wednesday here at our performing arts camp, but we also had a spectacular tour of the Stagecrafters Theatre in Chestnut Hill! Thank you so much to Susan Mooers for giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how a production happens. It was a fantastic part of our day! Everyone especially enjoyed trying on the many wonderful costumes, hats, and wigs, as well as the retelling of several plays. (You are a terrific story teller!)

Journal Entries Submitted for the Blog:
JULIA C. - Everything's going great. Tyler's sister is new! Her name is Devon. We played a new game, too. I forgot what it's called though. You say a sound and a movement and then everybody repeats it. I'm having the best laugh here! For Anna and Melissa: "munch, munch!"
NATALIE B. - Today we played ABC volleyball. ABC volleyball is a game where you toss a volleyball around (we use a beach ball) and you can't hit it twice. You have to say each letter of the ABC's. If it touches the ground you have to start over.

Day One Week One - July 5th, 2011
Today was the first day of our performing arts camp at Summerside on the Hill. What a terrific group! We're going to have a super week together! Below are some journal entries submitted by campers for our blog.
ASHLEY K. - Day 1 Performing Arts Camp
I'm having lots of fun today! Mrs. Domanska is teaching me new games that I don't know. One of them was called My Weird Friend. All of them are really fun! If you sign up you will love it! You will learn jokes. Here's my joke. What happens when frogs park illegally? They get toad! If you come here next year you will have as much fun as me! I'm sure! We learned lots of funny jokes!
NATALIE B. - Games I Liked: I liked playing What Are You Doing? What Are You Doing is a fun game that you can play with two or more people. One person says, "what are you doing?" The other person is miming something such as brushing their teeth and says something completely different and the person who said, "What are you doing?" has to mime what they are doing. And that is how you play What Are You Doing.
GILLIAN C. - We did a skit today. It was fun!
HANNAH C. - This camp is fantastic so far. There is a lot of great games and activities. I really enjoy it!!!
